[AP] - Such items can only be obtained through Aeria Points bought with real cash. May also be available in AH (Auction House/Salesperson) for high amounts of in-game Gold.
How do I make my equipment glow?
Only weapons will glow, armors will not. Weapons (including Shields) emit a white glow after being fortified to at least +5. Changes in the glow occur at +7 and +9(MAX). Weapons glow a certain color when they are slotted with 2 of the same Resonance Stones. The color of the glow depends on the Resonance stones socketed in the weapon. All resonance stone effects stack in both chance and damage.
*Tip: The glow is just for looks. Each time you successfully fortify an item, it only gives +3% to base damage or armor. +1->+2 is +3%, +4->+5 is +3%. don't break your equipment just for a glow especially if it has many slots.
How does my sub-weapon affect my character?
Sub-weapons are only available to Warrior-branch classes and Ranger-branch classeses. Mage and Acolytes are only able to equip relics at Lvl 31+. Sub-weapons for Warriors are the bow/gun and sub-weapons for Rangers are Swords/Axes/Hammers. Whatever you main weapon is, your sub-weapon's stat bonuses and effects carry over to your main weapon. So all +VIT/EN/STR/INT/WIL/AGI and special abilities will apply even if you do not use it.
Eg. At level 18-Ranger, you can dual wield 2 Swords and both their effects will carry over to your attacks.
When can I ride mounts?
Mounts are gotten after level 20.
*Tip: There are REP quests which give mounts as reward. Keep picking the same mount to save on inventory space as they all run the same speed at their respective levels.
What does the color of item names mean?
The color of the names on each item represent the rarity level of it.
Grey: To be sold to NPCs
White: Weapon-Common; Items-Doesn't necessarily mean common, but more like 'Others' as many rare items are also colored white
Green: Weapon-Uncommon; Items-Uncommon, Secondary sprite materials from collecting
Blue: Weapon-Rare, monster drop only; Items-Rare
Orange: Weapon-Sprite craft, has special abilities and set equipment; Items-Sprite summons
Yellow: Legendary
Blue VS Orange Equips
Blue equips of the same or similar level as Orange equips tend to be better in terms of attack/defense and stat boosts but will not have any special abilities while the Orange equips may be a bit weaker, they make up for it with their abilities.
*Tip: You can tell what kind of drop it is just by looking at the drop bag/chest. Each color item has a different chest.
Why can't I trade my equipments?
Grand Fantasia has a different approach to equipments in that used equipments cannot be traded to other players. Each piece of equipment has one of two conditions: Already Bound or Bind on Equip. Already Bound means that your character has equipped this already before, therefore bound to this certain character. You can either Salvage it, or sell it to a NPC. Bind on Equip means that it has yet to be worn, therefore you can sell it to other players, sell it to NPCs, give it to your alternate characters, or salvage it. As far as I know, there is no way to 'unbind' an equipment.
What is the maximum amount of slots/sockets on an equipment?
Maximum on any piece of equipment is 6 slots. Equipments come with random number of sockets, ranging from 0-6. [AP]Chisels can be used to add sockets.
Does repairing lower maximum durability?
Yes, absolutely. This has been confirmed. Repairing equipment has a chance to lower its maximum durability. Sometimes zero durability will result in a loss of max durability, sometimes it does not. Therefore, do not use the repair all equipment if you plan on prolonging your equipment set for as long as possible. Equipments will eventually go down to 0/0 durability and will thus require a hammer to repair lost durability to be usable.
*Tip: Do not use the repair all option, pick and choose which equipments really need to be repaired.
How is the grinding in Grand Fantasia?
Grinding to level up, believe it or not, is considered the easier part of the game. There are already some Lvl 60 after the first month of Open Beta. The more difficult tasks are ones such as training your sprite and gaining reputation. There are always areas suitable for players that prefer to fight 1v1 and for those that prefer to try AoE. With sprites being able to help you auto-pick up, it makes grinding in Grand Fantasia that much more bearable.
*Tip: When you want to grind, do REP quests that give Fame. Some REP quests do not give fame.
How do I use Sprite Emblems?
Sprite Emblems can be obtained via various methods. Once they are equipped, they cannot be removed, only replaced with another emblem. Emblem Slot-A is depicted with a 'cloud' symbol (Sky) and Emblem Slot-B is depicted with a 'mountain' symbol (Earth). Slot-A emblems improve your character's offensive abilities and grant certain effects to occur on attacking. Slot-B emblems improve your character's defense and resistance. To have the effects activate, you sprite must be summoned to the field with you (right-click on sprite crystal and select Summmon Sprite). They need to be at least in Happy Mood to be summoned.
*Tip: Sprite Emblems do not stack into 1 inventory slot, even if they are both the same. So equip the ones you will use and sell the ones you know you have no use for.
What makes a class considered DPS?
DPS is an acronym for 'Damage Per Second.' Mathematically speaking it is Total damage dealt divided by Total time it takes to deal the damage. To determine what your DPS is, set a benchmark damage of say, 10,000 damage or a boss' entire life bar. Time yourself and see how long it takes you to deal the damage while having a cleric constantly healing you. The point of the test is simply pure damage calculation.
All classes deal damage...just that some deliver more damage faster than others. Wizards and Assassins top the DPS scoreboard with their powerful spells and high critical chance/damage, respectively.
*Tip: To get the highest DPS, focus on slotting armors with STR/AGI/INT for melee/range/magic damage.
What is a tank? How do I tank? What is agrro/malice?
A tank is a character that can take many hits before being downed either with alot of health and/or alot of defense. A tank's job is to take all or most of the hits for the party. Support requires that a Cleric be with the tank to constantly heal the tank. The top choice for tanking is the Paladin, then the Berserker. The Sage is able to take hits as well but do not have the skills with additional malice. Paladins and Berserkers have skills which add malice to their attacks.
Aggro is short for aggrevation which refers to hostility and in Grand Fantasia is called Malice. Without malice, the enemy will go for whoever does the most damage. Paladins have a skill which doubles its malice on the target, allowing them to easily grab the attention of the enemy, eventhough they may not be dealing the most damage. In the unlikely event that another character outdamages the tank by alot, the enemy will switch to target that character, in which case the tank must quickly use any and all available malice skills to try to draw back the enemy's attention. Otherwise, the tank may end up chasing the enemy around until its focus returns. Keeping aggro on the tank is important to the survival of the party because it makes the enemy focus its attacks on the tank and not the Cleric or others.
*Tip: Tanks should fortify their armor and slot with VIT.
What is Salvage?
Salvage is available only on your main Sprite and certain others only aka. Item Disassembly. Salvage breaks useless equipments down into crystals and essences. These are then used to create other powerful weapons and armors. Only equipment colored Green or bettercan be salvaged; White will not work and should be sold. A sprite can salvage equipments with level equal to or lower than its own salvage level. The fastest way to level up salvage is through Training, consuming raw material and some gold. If you have more gold than material to spare, then an alternative is to buy green equipment from the Salesperson and salvage those, bringing back some extra crystals and essences.
What is the Pandora's Box?
Sometimes after killing a monster, you will see a strange white chest. If you have your sprite out on the field, it may pick it up before you get to see it. What happens after it is picked up is three possibilities: Curse, HP/EN recovery, Monster. If the curse happens, then your character is temporarily transformed into a zombie-like creature. This may be a good or bad thing. For warriors, its a rather good thing because it doubles your life and attack at the cost of no skills can be used. Potions are still available. HP/EN recovery restores all HP/EN to the one that picked it up. Lastly, a monster may appear and if defeated will drop a Dark Emblem which can be given to Dark Sprites for fame or prizes.
Where can I find Jelly Rabbit Coins?
In Grand Fantasia, there are vases and chests which you can break to find things to sell to NPCs or Jelly Rabbit Coins! These coins can then be traded to the Jelly Rabbit Fan Club NPCs for prizes. They are located near the teleporters. They do not show up on the map as any symbol. With some luck, you can get the Jelly Rabbit cape from them.
*Tip: Hunt for Jelly Rabbit coins on 2x drop Sundays. Their drop rate is higher.
Is 2x drop event useless? The monsters only drop one item anyway.
The 2x drop event is not useless and infact very useful. While 2x drop does not give you 2 drops per monster, it doubles the chances of you finding better drops.
Eg. A monster has a 50% chance to drop nothing, 30% chance to drop a white item, 20% chance to drop a green item and a 10% chance to drop a blue item. After 2x drop event happens the chances then become 100% chance to drop nothing, 60% chance to drop a white item, 40% chance to drop a green item and a 20% chance to drop a blue item. Huh? So you get 100% of nothing? No, not quite. After you kill a monster, it first tests to see if you get a blue item, then green, then white, then nothing. Your chances of getting a blue item increased from 10% to 20%. So you have 20% chance to get a blue and if that fails, then you have 40% still to get a green, then 60% chance to at least get a white.
You will notice that during this event, the quality of the items dropped are better. This may also double chances of getting blue quest bags as well, not sure.
